As you will be well aware, the rate of the pound against the euro has made
abroad trips rather expensive. With that in mind we have had a quote for
an excursion to Northern Ireland staying at the lovely 17th century
Ballygally Castle Hotel, which overlooks the soft sandy beaches of
Ballygally Bay.

Bakewell Show Wednesday 5th August 2009. |
|
The 2009 Bakewell Show will feature fun for the whole family from the
extended children's classes in the Horticulture Section to the popular
traditional livestock classes.
This year the main ring attraction will be The Knights of the Damned Jousting Stunt Team, performing a fantastic, coloured costumed display of Medieval Jousting at its very best. They will join a range of other regular attractions including 15 Minute Theatre, by the Storybag Theatre Company, this year performing an original "Who Done It?". The Bakewell Beach will also be back including deck chairs, buckets & spades and a Punch and Judy Show. Several of the popular children's competitions are back too! Including: scarecrow making, extraordinary fruit or veg, cheese sculpture & craft. With everything from Ayreshire Cattle to Vintage Vehicles & Machinery, there is something for all the family at the 179th Bakewell Show! Leave Leeds at 8am |

Whitby is dominated by the cliff-top ruins of the beautiful 13th century
Whitby Abbey. This traditional maritime town, with its old cobbled
streets, picturesque houses and sandy blue flag beach is a great place for
a holiday or short break, Whitby is set among fine stretches of coast with
spectacular cliffs, beaches and bays.
A selection of diverse attractions includes the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, Victorian Jet Works, the Dracula Experience, Pannett Park and Whitby Museum, with cabinets of curiosities from geology to jet carving, birdlife to bygones and costumes to clocks. Great Yorkshire Show 14-16 July 2009. |

The three-day countryside showcase takes place from Tuesday 14th to
Thursday 16th July at the 250 acre site at Harrogate.
The event combines entertainment and fun with the opportunity to see first hand the many aspects of country life and farming. This year's show is delighted to welcome the North Stars Steel Band and the Yorkshire Volunteers Band, plus in The Main Ring is competitive Coaching. There are all your usual favourites from hounds to horses, cows to cookery, and fashion to food. Take a look at the hundreds of animals - from exotic poultry to the majestic Shire Horses; then there are the many demonstrations - sheep shearing, stick making, fly fishing.. to name but a few.
