In hindsight

We arranged a long weekend in a Warner's Hotel (Thoresby Hall) but had to cancel due to lack of support. To get our group rates we need at least 40 people.

The overnight at Stratford only just made it with 40 persons. The 5 day air trip to Krakow in September was fully subscribed but had to be cancelled due to the airline increasing the price by £100 after giving us a quote in February.

With the recent events in Iceland the matter of future air travel is now in the melting pot.

Are we not providing the excursions that you want or are we just running out of travelling members?

The day trip to Black Country Museum is full and goes on the 15th May

Southport -Saturday 7th August 2010

We ran this trip 2 years ago and it rained all day long. Dare we try again?

Eighteen miles north of Liverpool is Southport, 'England's Classic Resort', where you will find glorious sandy beaches, panoramic seafront and a Victorian pier. Described as sophisticated, cosmopolitan and vibrant, Southport is the perfect place to enjoy a traditional British seaside break, but with all the modern amenities you would expect.

First port of call for many visitors is Southport's famous pier, the oldest surviving iron pier in the UK and the longest overland pier in the country. Adjacent is Marine Lake, the largest man-made leisure lake in the U.K, and Marine Way Bridge. The lake boasts various attractions such as the Miniature Railway Village and Southport Belle Mississippi style paddleboat.

Another exciting attraction is the new all weather water park Splash World with high speed water slides. Nearby is the largest area of unspoilt Dunes and pinewoods in the UK where you will find one of the few remaining red squirrel colonies.

Southport's Lord Street is famous for its shopping. The leafy boulevard with its glass-canopied shops and stunning Wayfarers Arcade, make it one of the Northwest's leading shopping destinations.

We have arranged to leave Southport at around 4.15pm and drive to the Botanical gardens at Churchtown for an afternoon tea of sandwiches, tea and cakes.

Cost per person is £6, no reduction for children as the cost is mainly for the afternoon tea, which is being charged per head.
